The Katakuchi Tea Bowl is a handcrafted ceramic vessel with a beautifully curved shape and inner depth perfect for whisking matcha or Hojicha Powder with ease and grace.
In addition to preparing Japanese tea powder, the Katakuchi Tea Bowl can be used for cooling water before steeping hojicha tea leaves in a kyusu, or for pouring other liquids such as sake, sauces, and dressings.

How to care for the Katakuchi Tea Bowl
- After each use, wash the Katakuchi Tea Bowl by hand in warm water.
- Use gentle dish soap and a soft sponge or towel if needed.
- Dry thoroughly before storing.
How to make a Hojicha Latte with the Katakuchi Tea Bowl
- Add 1 teaspoon of Hojicha Powder and 60 ml of 80°C (175°F) filtered water into a Katakuchi Tea Bowl.
- Whisk together with a chasen (bamboo whisk).
- For a hot hojicha latte: Steam 180 ml of milk, and pour the whisked hojicha and frothed milk into a mug.
- For an iced hojicha latte: Pour the whisked hojicha over a glass of ice and 180 ml of cold milk.
- Sweeten if desired.
